Debra A. Vey Voda-Hamilton, Esq., is the founder and principal of Hamilton Law and Mediation; HADR-NC, PLLC, and the nation’s first mediator dedicated exclusively to animal-related conflicts. With more than 42 years as an attorney and 15 years focused on conflict resolution, she brings understanding-based mediation and conflict coaching to disputes that live at the intersection of law, emotion, and the human-animal bond.
Her practice centers on active listening and precise use of language as tools to find solutions rather than create adversaries, an approach that translates directly to disability access disputes involving service animals, where dignity, misunderstanding, and legal complexity so often collide.
Debra is the bestselling author of Nipped in the Bud, Not in the Butt: How to Use Mediation to Resolve Conflicts Over Animals, and a two-term past president of the American Veterinary Medical Law Association.
